Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is the Top Ten hyped books that we’ve never read. This was sort of an easy week for me because I haven’t read a lot of the hyped books that were hyped a few years back or adult books, but I do end up reading the majority of the YA hyped books.
- Twilight by Stephanie Meyer- I was much younger when this series was coming out and I simply had no interest in sparkly vampires. I ended up watching the first movie with my mom and I thought it was horrible, so I have no intentions on reading this series.
- The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins- Actually, I would like to read this one because I’ve heard good things about it, but I just haven’t gotten around to it.
- A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin- Once again, I saw the TV show before I read the book! I actually read around 80 pages of the book and then started to watch the show then forgot about that daunting 800 page book sitting on my nook.
- The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson- Well, this is a popular one on people’s lists today.
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern- Another that I do want to read but haven’t gotten around to it! The concept seems so unique to me and I’ve heard wonderful things about it.
- Red Rising by Pierce Brown- I’m noticing a pattern here, it’s another hyped book that I want to read but I still haven’t. Anyways, this one got a ton of hype a few months back with him being “The most attractive author” and the release of Golden Son.
- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon- I’m sick of seeing this book everywhere and I have no interest in reading it because books that deal with rape are an instant turn off for me.
- An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir- I’ve heard good things about this recent release and it certainly gained a lot of hype, but I’m still not sure if I’ll read it or not.
- Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card- I don’t know, I just never read this a child like most people did. I don’t think it interested me and it still doesn’t.
- Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James- No. Just no.
I agree – no to 50 shades! 🙂 Here’s my list: http://booksthething.com/2015/07/07/top-ten-hyped-books-ive-never-read/

Twilight is horrible, so you made the right choice not to read it. I will never touch Fifty Shades Of Grey either… A Game Of Thrones is an interesting series, but a really slow read with almost too many characters and long descriptions. I love the series and I’ve read the first four books; I’m still not sure which version I like better. Most of the other titles are on my TBR as well…

Haha, good thing I made the right choice about Twilight then!

I still wish I could get those hours I wasted reading that one back. 😉

Do you see yourself going back to the books after watching (I’m assuming you’ve watched at least) the 5 seasons of GOT?
While I’ve heard mixed reactions from The Night Circus, the world does sound really intriguing and one that I need to eventually explore for myself!
Cheers,
Joey via. thoughts and afterthoughts.

I’ve only seen around 3 seasons of GOT because the show just became too much for me, but funnily enough I have caught myself attempting to go back to the series!
