Badassery | Book Traveling Thursdays

Book Traveling Thursdays

Book Traveling Thursdays, which is a weekly meme created by the lovely Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @Danielle’s Book Blog, is a super cute tag. The idea behind the meme is to share covers of books (that match the theme for this week which you can see at the Goodreads group) from around the world. You want to share the original cover, the cover from where you’re from, your favorite and least favorite cover!

This week’s theme is “It was International Women’s Day!! Choose a book with a badass heroine” and since I love a good butt-kicking female lead, I love this theme! Now the character I have to go with is Celaena Sarodthien (aka Aelin but shhhh!), the quirky and very badass assassin from The Throne of Glass series.

ORIGINAL COVER/COVER FROM WHERE I LIVE

original_usI’m not going to lie here, I’m not a very big fan of the original cover. Faces on books just have to be done in a certain way for them to look good and this, unfortunately, does not meet those standards.

Also, there is a severe lack of weapons for that to actually be Celaena. I refuse to believe that this girl is walking around with only a measly dagger strapped to her arm for the entire world to see.

FAVORITE + LEAST FAVORITE COVER

least favfavoriteMy favorite cover is hands down the paper/hardback copy from the UK. Why does the UK always those beautiful, sleek, white covers with a cool design? I’m a big fan of really sleek looking books that are no only great books to read, but look fantastic on my shelf. (Don’t lie to me! I know you do too…)

However, the Romanian cover is, well, pretty awful. I don’t really know what’s happening here! What’s up with the weird looking glass thing, and is that supposed to be Celaena? If so, I don’t really think it looks like her. Also, this cover just doesn’t give off the badass vibe that this series truly is.
