Thoughts- It’s here!! I finally finished ACOMAF and I’m a complete mess! If you’re new here, I have six other SJM book reviews you can check out. Basically, I love her. Every single time I don’t think Sarah J. Maas can blow me away anymore than she already has, she goes and releases a new book.

First of all, if you have yet to read A Court of Thorns and Roses, which is the first book in this series… what are you doing? If you have read ACOTAR and yet to read A Court of Mist and Fury… what are you doing?!

This book exceeded every single expectation I had going into it. The characters got better, the world grew and became even more amazing than it already was, and the story was absolutely perfect. The only complaint I think I truly have about this is that it is a the slow side in the beginning (although it’s still good), but once you hit that half way mark, you never want to put this book down. Do be warned, this is not a Young Adult book, so if you are on the younger side of things do be aware that there are sex scenes in this book!

There isn’t much I can say about this book without any spoilers, so I’m going to leave it at this book is absolutely fantastic and if you have yet to read it (or anything by SJM for that matter), seriously go read it right now.

In my mind and heart, Sarah J. Maas is the new queen of fantasy.

**SPOILERS AHEAD. SPOILER ALERT**

Okay. We HAVE to start out with Rhysand. My one true love, Rhysand. I can’t get over what a perfect character he is now. I was so worried about this bond going into the second book, but this bond was the best thing that ever happened. Rhysand developed so perfectly as he’s the best balance of slightly arrogant, heartfelt, and flirtatious. Basically, he’s the perfect bad boy to warm all of our hearts. The Night Court and Velaris are wonderful, Rhysand is wonderful, his Inner Circle is wonderful. Everything is wonderful, until of course shit goes down. (I apologize for swearing, I normally try not to swear while blogging but nothing else fits there).

The slow burn romance between Feyre and Rhysand was exactly that, slow burning. Their flirtations and toying with each other was insanity. I couldn’t get over their steamy little notes that they pass between each other (which is basically fantasy sexting) and how brazen some of them were. Then there’s the scene at Court of Nightmares, you know the one. You know it. Then, nearly 500 pages of teasing, the night at the inn. Oh my goodness.

“He thinks he’ll be remembered as the villain in the story. But I forgot to tell him that the villain is usually the person who locks up the maiden and throws away the key. He was the one who let me out.”

I love, love, the fact that they’re mates. For some reason I was surprised when the Suriel let it slip, yet I think a part of me always knew because the chemistry between them was insane. Let’s also clear up the fact that there is definitely no love triangle in this situation. Tamlin is so out of the picture, I can tell you right now that I’m like “Tamlin who?”

Speaking of Tamlin, when him and Lucien walked out at the end with the King of Hybern. I actually think Tamlin is psychotic. There is no other reason for him pulling a stunt like this! And he dragged my poor baby Lucien into it! I mean, go Feyre for yelling at Lucien when he tried to bring her back to the Spring Court when she was training, but damn son. Check who you decide to sell your loyalty to. The tears really started to come though when the King of Hybern brought Nesta and Elain out at the end. Seeing Feyre fight for her sisters and having to see both Elain and Nesta go through that awful transition through the Cauldron was so terrifying and beautiful. And the fact that Lucien and Elain are now apparently mates? Ooooh I love it.

I also want more interactions between Cassian and Nesta because those two are hilarious together. Please let Cassian train Nesta in becoming a Fae, and what if Nesta helps Cassian recover and cope with life without wings- possibly? I also just want more Armen, Azriel, Cassian, and Mor in general. Such a fantastic group of people and their dynamic and the way the interact with each other is so genuine and real.

We also must discuss about Feyre’s flawless character development. It was so very prominent in this book that she is not okay after what she went through Under the Mountain and I’m so happy that it was dealt with so well. Tamlin did absolutely nothing to help her heal, but Rhysand and gang did so much. We really get to see Feyre adapting to her new abilities and slowly growing into them. She’s terrible at being a Fae at first, which is one of the best parts. I think that’s why the ending was so fantastic because we see how all of Feyre’s training and hard work paid off, especially in times of high emotional and physical stress. Obviously I love her now, but Feyre why did you have to put the two halves of the Book of Breathings together? That was the one thing Amren told you not to do.

There are so many fantastic scenes in this book such as the Bone Carver, and the Weaver, and even just exploring Velaris, which means I could ramble forever. However I’m not, so we’ll wrap up this explosion of feels now. Let’s wrap everything up with one simple gif, shall we?
