An Informal Talk About Blogging Slumps | Tea Time Talk

ttt 22

Hi all, it’s me! Surprise surprise, I can actually post every once and a while. Although, today I just wanted to have an informal discussion with you all about what has been keeping me from the blogosphere- the dreaded blogging slump.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I’m no longer enjoying blogging or I want to stop. I always enjoy writing up posts about books, fangirling, and interacting with other geeky bookworms. I also have no intention of stopping anytime soon! After all, I’m only a little over two months out from my 3rd blog anniversary (woah- CRAZY).

At the moment, I simply have not had any motivation to do anything but sleep or play video games- super cool, right? Not so much. I miss reading like crazy and blogging over here on my corner of the internet so badly. I wish that I had the motivation to pick up my laptop and whip up a masterpiece to share. Alas, that is just not happening right now. Although, I have still been reading and have a few more book reviews that need to be typed up. In fact, by some miracle I’m still on track for my Goodreads reading challenge.

For the first time in a few weeks, blogging hasn’t seemed like such a daunting task. I finally got around to responding to some comments (I’m so sorry if I just responded to a comment that you posted forever ago), writing any type of post, and just opening WordPress in general. This feels so good, you all have no idea. I’m going to try real hard this week and upcoming weekend to get semi caught up on reading and commenting on posts, and I’m PUMPED.

So, that’s kind of what’s been up with me recently. Blogging had become a bit of a chore, and I absolutely NEVER want this to be a chore for me. Personally, I think I needed some time to step back, and I’m glad I did. This has made me more excited than I have been in a while to blog, and I’m hoping that lasts for at least a few months.

  1. I just got out of a month long blogging slump I took a step away from blogging and it helped tremendously. I now have a lot of excitement and ideas, but I still don’t plan on posting regularly for a week or two. These things just take time to get out of but they kinda suck.

  2. Ah the dreaded blogging slump -__- I am glad you are getting out of it! I had one last September to October and it was horrible. I was also in a reading slump at the time and didn’t know what to do! Rereading my favourite short books always helps me to get out of reading slumps though! ❤

      1. I literally hardly survived! Graphic novels are good too! Have you read Nimona? I really enjoyed that one!

  3. I’m in a blogging slump right now. Not that I don’t want to or even that I don’t have the motivation to, but I just suddenly feel like I have nothing to post about. I’m hoping it will go away on its own. I have a couple of scheduled posts coming for my book wrap up and a stitch along and hopefully by then I’ll be back in the swing of things..

  4. I guess when I don’t feel like blogging, I just post a quote, or share a video, or something like that. But then, I do that every once in a while anyway. But I can understand having a lack of energy. I think once you become a teenager, you just get tired more easily and more often, or at least that’s been my experience.

    1. Oh I totally agree with the teenagedom tiredness! I’m ALWAYS tired. Plus, I still have a few more weeks of school and I’ve been pretty burnt out on that, which I think fed into my blogging.

      1. If it weren’t for coffee. I don’t think I’d ever get my schoolwork done. 😉 I am homeschooled, so right now it’s that weird time when I just have one book left to finish/write a book report on for literature, plus math, and that’s it. But I will be doing math for the rest of the summer.

      2. Oh yeah, I came across an old entry in my journal where I was like, “why am I so tired all the time, is something wrong with me?” And I was like, “No, past version of me, no; you’re just a teenager. And this is going to be the rest of your teenage life” XD

  5. Ah the blogging slump. I definitely suffered from that just a bit ago. Even though I really missed the blogging community, I was just not in the mood. I didn’t even want to open up WordPress because I didn’t want to see all the things I was missing out on. Plus, I just really wanted to take a step back and invest my time in other hobbies and activities. Taking a break from blogging is always a great choice. When it starts to feel like a chore, that’s when you know you should just leave it aside and invest your time and energy in something else. Sometimes, picking up a really good book (even if it’s just a reread) my also spark some motivation to blog again! That helped me in my latest blogging slump lol. Anyways, welcome back! Always great to see your posts on my reader 🙂

    1. I totally agree with everything you mentioned. I felt the same way, I never wanted to open the app! I even ignored all of my notifications for a while, which was pretty bad lol. Thank you for the welcome back, and that means so much to me! ❤️

      1. LOL, same! Even though it set me back a few days/weeks, avoiding my notifications and WordPress altogether helped relieve some stress. And of course! Hope to see more from you soon 😀

  6. I’ve just started blogging, but to prevent myself from falling into a potential slump I try to schedule all of my posts in advance.

I’m new to blogging and book reviewing, and am very impressed by your blog. I was wondering if you had any tips for newbie bloggers and book reviewers.

If you have the time, please check out my blog @breenysbooks. I’d love any feedback. Have a wonderful day.

    1. I try to schedule out posts as well, but I just can’t seem to schedule that time to blog recently! However, I think you’re doing great for starting out. Commenting and interacting with other bloggers is my biggest piece of advice I could give! Plus scheduling posts, I didn’t even know that was an option when I first started. 😂
