It’s Time To Haul Some Books | February Haul

Hey all! I’m back with another book haul, because buying new books is a wonderful experience. It’s been a few months since I’ve done a haul, but I really want to keep track of the books I buy and do these every month.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the books I’ve obtained this month. Continue reading

Book Haul | September & October Edition

Ah, the wonderful feeling of buying books. Over the last two month, I accumulated a substantial number of books, so I figured I would share what all those wonderful stories are. There are definitely some new releases this month that I’d like to get as well, but that’s a story for another time!

So, let’s take a look at the books. As per usual, the Goodreads page is linked on the title of the book!

  • Flamecaster by Cinda Williams Chima- I’m sure you all know how I read the Seven Realms series a few months back and fell in love with it. Well, this is the continuation of that series, about 20 years later. I’m currently reading it, and I’m in love.
  • Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas- I might’ve not like it, but I did haul it! Since this is the only ToG novel I actually own a physical copy for, I’ll probably donate it so it’s not taking up valuable space of my shelves.
  • A Torch Against The Night by Sabaa Tahir- I got this right when it came out, but as per usual I’ve missed the hype train because I got distracted by other books. Hopefully this shall be read soon.
  • All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven- I’ve heard absolutely nothing but raving reviews for this book, and the synopsis sounds wonderful. I’m going to be sure and have some tissues on hand when I read this…
  • Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch- Look at that cover! It’s so cute! I totally meant to read this during the summer, but gelato can be an autumn time treat, right?

  • The Thousandth Floor by Katherine McGee- This one is compared to Gossip Girl, the TV show, a lot. So, when I’m in a GG mood (I’ve seen a good portion of the show), this one is definitely getting read. Plus, the whole design for this book is gorgeous.
  • Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo- AKA the new love of my life. This series is goals in so many ways.
  • Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake- I wanted to try out OwlCrate for a month in August, and I was very please with the results. This is the book that came in the box, and it will be my first Blake novel.
  • Shuffle, Repeat by Jen Klein- Okay, I’ve never heard of this book before, but then I saw another blogger talking about it (I can’t remember who sadly), and it sounded too cute to resist. I’m actually reading it right now, and loving it so much.
  • Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon- Her books get so much hype, and with her newest book just coming out, I wanted to read her other book first. I bet it’ll make me cry though.

See any of your favorites on this list? What’s the best book you go last month? Any new books that got added onto your TBR? Let me know!

Book Haul | Summer Edition

book haul

So, it’s been a long time  since I’ve done a book haul. In fact, the last one was a little under a year ago, last November! I’ve obviously obtained many books since then, but I wanted to do a summer book haul of all the books I’ve received/bought in June-August. I’m sure I’m missing a few on this list, but oh well.

I’m thinking starting in September, I’d like to do my monthly haul either in my monthly wrap up or in a separate post. What do you all think?

Anyways, here are some of the books I got! (Click on any book title below the picture for the Goodreads page).

book haul 1

  • The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima- I actually finished this one yesterday, and cannot wait to post my review and discuss it with everyone! Here’s a hint, I absolutely loved it!
  • The Exiled Queen by Cinda Williams Chima- Because of how much I loved the first one, I started the second one almost immediately after! I’m only a few chapter in, but I can sense good things.
  • The Gray Wolf Throne by Cinda Williams Chima- Have you noticed the pattern yet?
  • The Crimson Crown by Cinda Williams Chima- Yup, I have every intention of marathoning this series before the summer is over. It’s so addicting.
  • Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes- I read this book in July (?), and it was a fun quick read. I’m also going to take this time and put a bit of self-promo, because my Bookstagram is alive again, and I just did a fun photoshoot with this book (I’m @bookishteacups)!

book haul 2

  • The Wrath & The Dawn by Ren‎ée Ahdieh- You’ve probably seen this series on my blog already, but I can’t help but showcasing it again because of how gorgeous the covers and books are.
  • The Rose & The Dagger by Ren‎ée Ahdieh- Basically, I can’t  wait to read more of Ahdieh’s books!
  • The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye- Look! One I haven’t already read and reviewed! Anyways, I’ve read mixed things about this book, but the synopsis sounds too cool to pass for me.
  • Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys- You all know how much I adore Sepetys’s books and her writing style. Although, now I’ve read all her books, and I want there to be more!
  • Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling- Biggest disappointment of the year. Actually, more like biggest disappointment of the decade.

Let me know when you’d prefer to see book hauls, inside my monthly wrap up or as a separate post. Also, do share if you’ve gotten any exciting books recently or if there’s any books that you just can’t wait for (*cough* Empire of Storms *cough*)!

Book Haul of Many Months

Book Haul

It has been a very long time since I’ve done a book haul (since early November!) because I thought about trying to do them seasonally, but now I realize that I acquire way too many books to try and do that, so book haul!

These will be the majority of books I’ve gotten from mid-November through current day (early February). Since this would be a huge post if I hauled every book, I’m going to haul just the books I haven’t read/reviewed yet (although that’s still a pretty high number).

If you’d like to add a book to Goodreads, click on the Goodreads link! They’ll all be linked.

AfterworldsGoodreads: Darcy Patel has put college and everything else on hold to publish her teen novel, Afterworlds. Arriving in New York with no apartment or friends she wonders whether she’s made the right decision until she falls in with a crowd of other seasoned and fledgling writers who take her under their wings…

Told in alternating chapters is Darcy’s novel, a suspenseful thriller about Lizzie, a teen who slips into the ‘Afterworld’ to survive a terrorist attack. But the Afterworld is a place between the living and the dead and as Lizzie drifts between our world and that of the Afterworld, she discovers that many unsolved – and terrifying – stories need to be reconciled. And when a new threat resurfaces, Lizzie learns her special gifts may not be enough to protect those she loves and cares about most.

I’ve been wanting to read this book basically since it came out, but it’s been so expensive! I finally managed to catch it on sale and picked it up, although I still haven’t read it… Even though I really want to. Continue reading

Fall 2015 Book Haul

Fall Book HaulIt’s been forever since I’ve posted a book haul, so naturally, I’ve acquired quite a few books in the last few months and I want to show you guys! I think I’m also going to turn my book hauls into seasonal posts because it’s less repetitive and I get to make adorable banners for each season (see above!). Each book cover will link to the Goodreads page if you’d like to add it to your shelf!

5th waveAfter the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother–or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

I have no idea when I actually got this, but I haven’t hauled it yet, so… Anyways, I’ve been meaning to read this forever because I’ve heard wonderful things about it and I know the movie is being released sometime (soon?), which looks so good. WAIT. I do know when I got this. It was a gift from a friend right after the second one was released, so it’s been on my shelf for quite a while.

hp illustratedFor the first time, J. K. Rowling’s beloved Harry Potter books will be presented in lavishly illustrated full-color editions. Rowling herself selected artist Jim Kay, whose over one hundred illustrations make this deluxe format as perfect a gift for the child being introduced to the series as for the dedicated fan.

Harry Potter has never been the star of a Quidditch team, scoring points while riding a broom far above the ground. He knows no spells, has never helped to hatch a dragon, and has never worn a cloak of invisibility.

All he knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley–a great big swollen spoiled bully. Harry’s room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn’t had a birthday party in eleven years.

But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to an incredible place that Harry–and anyone who reads about him—will find unforgettable.

I mean, does this one really need an explanation? It’s beautiful and being the nerd that I am, I HAD TO GET IT. Am I eventually going to get the Harry Potter coloring book? Duh.

July 2015 Book Haul

2015-07-14 15.45.12In the month of July, I’ve obtained six new books that I’m extremely excited about. I can’t wait to read all of these, so let’s get into the haul.

  • First of all, probably my most anticipated release of 2015, is Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson. I absolutely adored Kiss of Deception and can not wait to jump back into the Remnant Chronicles and find out what happens to our lovely princess.
  • Then, I picked up Stardust by Niel Gaiman. I chose this because the movie is one of my favorites (sadly I didn’t know it was a book before I saw it) and I’m choosing to read this for my “Book wrote in the year you were born” challenge for the popsugar 2015 reading challenge.
  • I’ve heard wonderful things about Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys and when I saw it on sale, I couldn’t resist that beautiful cover.
  • Since I’m the biggest nerd ever and I’m obsessed with this series, I got all three of the Infernal Devices manga by Cassandra Clare and Hyekyung Baek. I’m probably going to marathon all three of these right after this post because I love manga and I’m so excited for these. The artwork is also gorgeous, just look at the covers. 2015-07-14 15.49.32While getting these, I remember there was something else that I’ve been wanting for a long time but haven’t gotten around to getting… my very own Clockwork Angel pendant. You can see it right on top of Jem and here’s a close up picture of it:2015-07-14 15.48.12It’s absolutely gorgeous and I already love it!

I’m so excited (how many times have I said that?) for everything in this haul and can’t wait to read all of them. Let me know if you’ve read any of these and what you thought of them, I’d love to know!

Birthday Book Haul

I have absolutely no self control. It was my birthday three days ago and while I did receive some books as presents, I also got gift cards, which means I bought a lot of books. Also, a lot of YA books at Barnes and Nobles were marked down, so I just had to take advantage of that, right? Okay, I’m going to stop making excuses and show you guys the books that I got because I’m super excited about all of them. (All images link to Goodreads page)

cressCress by Marissa Meyer- I’m catching up on the series! Unfortunately, Cress and Scarlet might have to wait until I read some of the other books that I’ve been waiting for longer.

gracelingGraceling by Kristen Cashore- This book has a really neat premise and I’ve heard wonderful things about it, so it should be a fun high-fantasy read!

velvetVelvet by Temple West- I hadn’t heard of this book before I saw another blogger review it and it seemed like such a great read, I decided to pick it up and try it myself.

the game of love and deathThe Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough- I absolutely love how this book sounds, a historical fiction love story set in the 1930s? What more could you want! It’s also set in the city that I live in, which will be super fun to read.

the heirThe Heir by Kiera Cass- I quite enjoyed the Selection series and am interested to see how Maxon and America’s child will fair in her own selection.

ruin and risingRuin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo- What were you expecting? I loved the first two, so I had to get the last one! You can read me rant about Shadow and Bone and Siege and Storm if you want.

the winner's crimeThe Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski- I suppose you can also call the “The book haul where Kenzie needs to get every sequel ever”, but I am very excited for the second book in the Winner’s trilogy.

cruel beautyCruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge- These fairy tales re-tellings have been getting a ton of hype recently, and they do interest me, so I figured I’d pick them up!

crimson boundCrimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge- If you get the first one, you might as well the the second, right? Plus, I’ve really been enjoying fairy tale re-tellings because of the Lunar chronicles and I’m excited to see different author’s twists on the stories.

daughter of smoke and bone trilogyDaughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy by Laini Taylor- A friend gifted me the box set of this trilogy and I love her for it. I’ve been wanting to read this series forever because I hear nothing but good things about it.

a court of thorns and rosesA Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas- I love Sarah J. Maas, her Throne of Glass series is amazing and I CAN’T WAIT TO GET INTO THIS BOOK! Actually, I’ve already started it, but I’m not that far into it (but I like where it’s going!)

So yeah… This was a pretty big haul, but let me know if you’ve read any of these and how you liked them! I’m glad summer is coming up, because now I’ll have more time to read all of these fantastic books.

December/January 2015 Book Haul!

I was looking at my bookshelf and realized I’ve acquired a good amount of books in the last month or so. I really have no idea when most of (unless it was recent) were obtained, so it’s my December and January book haul, all though they might even be from earlier. I even made a post-it note to stick on my shelf reminding me to do this post and I’m just now doing it, after the sticky note has been up there for several weeks.

TIDThe Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare- This being one of my all time favorite series, you’d expect for me to own all three of them, right? Nope. I finally got around to buying them since I had the first one my phone and the next two on my nook.

eleanor and parkEleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell- I loved Fangirl by RR and I’ve always heard such great things about this book, so I wanted to give it go.

Untitled-1Shadow and Bone/Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo- The first two books in the Grisha Trilogy. Again, I’ve heard great things about this series but I’m waiting until I can get the last one to read them.

I'll give you the sunI’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson- It’s time to build up my contemporary section! I’ve never read a whole ton of contemporary but I am starting to read more of them and I’m enjoying most of them. Plus, the covers are usually super pretty. Just saying.

ignite meIgnite Me by Tahereh Mafi- The final book in the Shatter Me Trilogy. You can see my thoughts about it here.

heir of fireHeir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas- The third book in the Throne of Glass series (yes! Not a trilogy!) I can’t wait for the 4th one and for Maas’s new book coming out relativity soon. See what I had to say on Heir of Fire here.

the bane chroniclesThe Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare- A Cassie Clare book full of short stories that are focused on everyone’s favorite sassy warlock? Yes please.

paper townsPaper Towns by John Green- I have very mixed feelings about John Green. I did like (not love) TFIOS, however I absolutely hated Looking for Alaska, especially the end. I’ve heard a lot of people like Paper Towns more than his other works and since it’s becoming a movie, I thought I’d give it a try.

gone girl Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn- As usual, jumping on the bandwagon late. My friend was mad at me for a while because I didn’t go see Gone Girl with her in theaters since I hadn’t read it yet. So, since she knew my stubbornness, she got me the book but I have still yet to read it, whoops.

say what you will Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern- This was an impulse buy and mostly because the cover was pretty. I did enjoy it, but I had a few issues with the book. You can read my full review here.

November Book Haul!

I might have gotten some books…

I’m really excited about the books that I’ve recently bought, so here we go.

In this stack, we have…

  • Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins (so cute so far! Read it with me; follow my updates on Goodreads)
  • The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
  • In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken (yessss!)
  • All the Light we Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
  • The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin is currently in the mail. I’m so pumped for this one.

Most of these books I’ve heard nothing but good things about, especially All the Light we Cannot See and The Coldest Girl in Coldtown. This will be my first Holly Black book and I’m interested to see how I like her books because I know a lot of people love her books. Also, I plan on using ATLWCS for a book project in my Language Arts class because I think it will be a great book to do a report/have a discussion on. As a sidenote, I picked up the If I Stay movie which I plan on watching this weekend because it looks so adorable.

What have are you reading/planning on reading next? I’d love to know!
