Day 1 and 2 of the BoB readathon have flown by! I’ve decided not to do daily updates, but rather every few days so your dash isn’t overflowing with BoB updates. I also don’t care for doing daily updates because I like having a different type of post in between something like readthon updates. Anyways, how have I been doing the last few days?
Books Read From/Finished-
Read From- A Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor (both days)
Finished- A Daughter of Smoke and Bone
Day 1- 265 (DoSaB)
Day 2- 153 (DoSaB)
I’m pretty happy that I was able to finished a book already, and a pretty long one too! I probably could’ve read more, but my day got unexpectedly busy yesterday. So, the readathon is going good for me, but let me know how you’re doing! What’s the best book you’ve read already? Are you doing as well as you hoped? You can also link back to your own post in the comments, if you would like.
Today’s challenge is hosted by Rock Top Real Talk and it’s Book MASH! I can’t lie to you guys, when I saw Book MASH going around on booktube a while back, I knew I had to try it because I love MASH. I’m always up for a new game though, because it’s different every time.
In this alternate universe I would be happily married with Akiva (DoSaB) and my 3 kids where we all live in a shack in the most expensive city in the US, New York! Everyday, I go to work as a mechanic in the market (from Cinder) and I get there via my broomstick, probably a Cleansweep (Harry Potter). Occasionally I get a message from my family from our pet owl, Hedwig (Harry Potter).
I always seem to get shack when I play MASH! Anyways, this was lots of fun and ensured many giggles from me as I was laughing about how weird my life is.
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 17th and runs through Sunday, August 23rd in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 14 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team.
I love Bout of Books and I believe this will be my 3rd readathon! So, I’m going to be participating in the readathon in hopes to catch up on my Goodreads challenge and just get some good reading in because this month I’ve read a grand total of one book.
Since the readathon starts tomorrow (or really tonight) I’m going to go ahead and share my TBR for the week in this post instead of another post.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor (418)
Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor (517)
Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor (613)
The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson (480)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (784) 454
With the page counts, I now realize how ambitious this TBR is but I think I could maybe do it! In a way, I’m kind of cheating because I’m about 70 pages in DoSaB (I’ll try not to read until midnight tonight) and 330 pages into Deathly Hallows, but I do want to finish them during the week. If by some crazy chance I manage to finish all of these, I’ll probably try to finish a series I was sent for review on my nook. They’re relatively short and fast paced.
Let me know if you’re participating in this Bout of Books and if you are, link me to your TBR so I can check it out and cheer you on throughout the week! 🙂
Apparently, I’m the worst about doing daily updates. I also seem to pick the worst weeks to do read-a-thons. Despite all of that, I did manage to get some reading done in the past two days, although it’s not a lot.
Books read from:
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (still)
MPHFPC! Hooray! This one took me forever, oh my gosh.
MPHFPC- 209 pages
Total pages read (all week)- 481
Since I don’t have anything going on for the rest of the day, I plan on reading a ton. I’m still doing well on my goals, I’ve managed to read 100 pages a day (barely) and if I finish Hollow City today or tomorrow I’ll reach my 3 books goal! Good luck on these last few days of the read-a-thon!
The read-a-thon is starting to get into full swing, with day 2 now officially being done and day 3 almost done. Unfortunately, I didn’t have nearly as good of a reading day on Tuesday as I did on Monday.
Books read from:
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
MPHFPC- 105 pages
Total amount (all week) of pages read- 272
I’m still on track for that 100 pages a day goal and hopefully I’ll read my goal of finishing 3 books. I’m not entirely sure why, but I’ve been feeling so tired the past few days. Maybe it’s from returning to school, but hopefully my body will re-adjust to the earlier times again. Good luck with your reading!
Challenge- Character Coupling!
This challenge is hosted by Writing my own Fairytale and it looked way to fun to pass up! Basically, the goal of the challenge is to pair up two different characters from different series. The relationship can be romantic, a friendship, parental, whatever you wish!
My couple would be Eona from Eona by Alison Goodman and Chaol from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. Both of these characters are awfully cunning and smart, but I think they would still balance each other out. Eona tends to be not very dependent on others, which I think would actually work very well with Chaol because he’s so busy to be worrying about her at every single moment. I think their relationship would be hilarious to read and see how it plays out because they have similar enough personalities that I feel like they would fight a lot (at first.) Mixing the different fantastical elements from these books would be quite interesting….

It’s time for another Bout of Books read-a-thon! This will be my second BoB and I’m excited to be participating again. Here’s my TBR for the week (might not be 100% definite):
Finish Heir of Fire if I haven’t already finished it.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Hollow City by Ransom Riggs
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Along with the books I want to read, I have mini goals that I would like to try and complete during the week.
Read at least 100 pages each day
Finish a total of at least 3 books
Finally, good luck to all of the participating readers out there!
The Bout of Books Read-a-thon has finished! This was a lot of fun and I ended up getting a lot of reading in, hooray! A quick update for yesterday; I read the first Shatter Me novella, Destroy me. That’s about it because I had an all day event and couldn’t get a ton of reading in.
This week I read 6 books! Normally I read 2-3 in a week so that’s pretty awesome. From Behemoth, I read 301 pages. I read 537 pages in Goliath, 304 pages in The Warrior Heir, 433 pages in Fangirl, 486 pages in The Kiss of Deception, and 111 pages in Destroy Me. I won’t make you do the math, that’s a total of 2172 pages! I’m so glad I got to read all of these great books and I hope you guys also had a good read-a-thon.
Summer is coming to an end for me, I go back to school the first week of September. Since I’m new to this whole blogging thing I’m unsure of how school will affect my reading/blogging but I’ll try to keep you updated. It’s also unlikely that I’ll be posting that first weekend of September because, I’ll be at band camp. As you might now know, I’m in the marching band and the fall season means football season. There is a TON of football games this semester (way more then usual for some reason) so those also take up time. Since I’m taking harder courses this year I’m probably going to have to cut my reading/sleeping time for studying, especially with that chemistry class.
Of course, school doesn’t mean I’m going to stop reading, my pace just might slow down a bit. I really hope that everything goes smoothly and that I can keep blogging because I’m loving it so far!
Day five of the Bout of Books 11.0 Read-a-thon has come and gone and I got some good reading in! Yesterday I had started The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson. I ended up reading a good 260 pages of it and it’s really good so far. I’ve been reading some more of it today and it just keeps getting better.
Sorry I didn’t update for Day 3, but not much happened, I just continued reading The Warrior Heir. Although, yesterday I finished up reading The Warrior Heir (see my review here) and, my books came in the mail! Hooray! From all the books I got, I picked up Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell first and I read it basically the rest of the day, I actually ended up finishing it! So, Day 4 was a great day! 🙂
